The Downy Woodpecker is the smallest woodpecker commonly found in North Florida backyards. These active birds are often spotted climbing tree trunks or tapping lightly along branches in search of insects. Their approachable nature makes them frequent feeder visitors.

The Downy Woodpecker may be North America's smallest woodpecker, but it brings outsized charm to backyard habitats. With its playful climbing, gentle drumming, and love of suet and sunflower, this little visitor is always a joy to welcome.
